The Mary Tyler Whores

Founded in Florida in 1999, the Mary Tyler Whores quickly became an overwhelming phenomenon in the local Punk scene. The band took its name from an infamous incident in which officers of the Ft. Lauderdale police called two band members 'little whores' while dragging them into a dark alley to beat them senseless.

The original line-up, featuring the late Joey Image of The Misfits on drums, made a name for themselves with the sheer energy with which each concert degenerated into debauchery and chaos. Every show descended into glorious debauchery and chaos, blurring the lines between concert and riot. Whether sharing the stage with Iggy Pop, The Misfits, The Casualties or GBH, fellow musicians and audiences alike were left stunned by the spectacle on and in front of the stage. A tour wasn't simply a string of concerts, but a collection of stories so outrageous they sounded impossible to believe.

After a break of several years, the band returned in 2023 with renewed energy, a sharper edge and something to prove. In September 2026, the band will unleash their new album 'As filthy as we wanna be' on the eclectic and highly respected label Cadiz Music, home of artists like Killing Joke, Cockney Rejects, Conflict, Peter Murphy and even Johnny Depp. Produced by Greg Hetson, known from his involvement in Bad Religion and Circle Jerks, the album captures everything that has made the band notorious in their homeland for decades with its blistering guitars, razor-sharp hooks, unapologetic Punk attitude and high-octane rock'n'roll vibe. The record also features an eclectic cast of guest collaborators, including Angelo Moore of Fishbone, proving yet again the band isn't interested in following rules or the boundaries of genres.

In the US, the band have built up a formidable live reputation, not in the least after the blistering performance they gave when Insane Clown Posse invited them to Juggalo Festival. Their explosive shows continue to attract new fans while reminding old fans why this band have always thrived on chaos.

Coinciding with the album's release, the band's focus will shift overseas. The end of 2026 will see their first run of concerts in the UK, followed by an extensive European tour in 2027, bringing their trademark mix of excess, sweat, volume and complete mayhem to audiences across the continent. This isn't “the next big thing you'll see”. This is the last thing you'll see.
