Since its inception in 1980, Theatre of Hate has been one of the most innovating and original bands in the rich history of the underground scene. Their distinctly idiosyncratic sound was the only possible outlet for their fury, leading to a few inimitable singles, one album and subsequently total self-destruction in 1982.
In 2014, the band reformed. Since then, they've released three albums, each of them a collection of songs reflecting the search for a balance between the beautiful nature of music and the ugliness of society. The most recent album dates from 2021 and is called 'Utsukushi-sa', to be translated from Japanese as 'A thing of beauty'.
In 2025 and 2026, the band's touring across Europe with a concept called '80-25', performing the album 'Westworld' and all accompanying singles in full and with an intensity derived from the power of true conviction.
